From Hell - The Whitechapel Testament

£59.99

From Hell is Lebanon Circle's most popular product, selling thousands of copies globally over the last 20 years.  Either as an entry-level effect for bizarre dabblers or a trusted favourite for professionals, From Hell continues to disturb and entertain.  Virtually every bizarre magician can claim to own a copy, making it one of the most popular bizarre effects ever released. It remains highly collectable to this day, and every previous version of this classic effect was an individually cut, aged, and laminated reproduction of a Victorian portrait card, making the product expensive and beyond the financial reach of the hobby magician.

In a continued effort to attract new and younger performers to the darker side of magic, Lebanon Circle is returning to where this all began - gaslight, fog and blood on cobblestones.
This subject has been the gateway for countless performers. It’s theatrical, atmospheric, rooted in real history yet surrounded by myth. It remains one of the most successful and enduring themes for both new and established bizarre magicians.
From Hell - The Whitechapel Testament is a retail version of not only the original From Hell, but also six other routines previously available only in Abberline’s Repository. These seven self-working effects combined storytelling and audience participation to determine the real identity of Jack the Ripper. The routine now even follows Jack’s demonic exploits to New York. These effects can also be performed in sequence to tell the story of Jack the Ripper, or performed individually, each as a self-working wonder.
Effects Included
  • From Hell
The original blood-soaked reimagining of Paul Curry’s Out of This World, in which the audience unknowingly separates the victims from the survivors. The routine also follows the Ripper’s exploits across the Atlantic to another spate of murders in New York.
  • Ripper Force
Five volunteers take to the streets of Whitechapel, each clutching a Victorian penny for a night’s lodging. They believe they have a choice. They don’t, and their fate has already been decided.
  • Prime Suspect
The audience becomes the Metropolitan Police during the mass raids of November 1888. Suspects are rounded up and homes searched… yet one man always slips through the net. And that man is Jack.
  • Double Event
Inspired by the infamous “Double Event,” where on September 30, 1888, Elizabeth Stride and Catherine Eddowes were killed by Jack the Ripper, this routine proves a chilling point—no matter where you hide, Jack will find you.
  • The Black Museum
Step inside Scotland Yard’s most disturbing collection and take a tour of the exhibits in The Black Museum. Using a dark twist on John Scarne’s Card Clock, only one exhibit on display points to the true identity of the Ripper.
  • Abberline’s Conclusion
The investigation closes in. Drawing on everything revealed so far, the identity of the Ripper aligns perfectly with a sealed statement from Inspector Abberline himself.
  • The Glass Prison (requires a switch box)
The killer is finally captured and placed in a specially built cell with no means of escape, or so it seems. Was Jack the Ripper ever truly human? This final piece leaves your audience with a choice—and neither answer ends well.
Also included within the deck is a selection of gaff cards—subtle tools used by performers to extend, adapt, and personalise the routines. These include double-backed, double-faced, blank and marked cards, allowing for seamless switches, transformations, and reveals that go beyond the core handling.
Printed on luxury, large, wide tarot-sized cards (89 x 127mm) using premium 410gsm Tusker Black Cored heavy-duty playing card stock, this is a deck built to endure performance.
Access is also provided to a private members' area, where you’ll find full video tutorials, supporting documentation, and additional guidance on linking the routines into one complete, immersive performance.
